When the Oven Runs Cold.
An oven that won't reach temperature, or won't hold it, has a few usual causes. We check them in this order.
The temperature sensor
A long metal probe inside the oven tells the control how hot it is. When the probe drifts, the oven thinks it has arrived before it has. Replacing it takes some disassembly.
The bake element
It's the most-used element in the oven and does the bulk of the heating. A weak or broken one leaves the broiler to do all the work, and the oven falls short.
Hidden or exposed?
Some bake elements sit in plain view and some are under the oven floor. A hidden one may mean removing the back panel and sliding the range out, so the job takes longer.
The control board
If the sensor and the elements test good, the board that runs them is next. We take the control panel apart and replace it.
