The first thing we do on a "my fridge died" call isn't collect your credit card. It's calm you down. A dead refrigerator wrecks your week, and most folks are a little frazzled when they dial, so we start there and then get into the details.

The Refrigerator Problems We Fix Most
Most fridge calls fall into a handful of buckets, and after thousands of them we can usually tell you what we're walking into before we take the back panel off. That includes the freezer section of your refrigerator.
Ice Maker Not Making Ice
Nine times out of ten it's the ice maker itself, sometimes the water valve feeding it, and on the more electronically driven units it can occasionally trace back to a control board.
Water Leaking Into the Fresh Food Section
This is almost always a clogged defrost drain letting water pour over instead of draining out. We pull the back panel, clear the drain line, and snake it down to make sure there's no ice or debris left. Usually no new parts at all. When ice was the culprit, we'll sometimes add a small heat probe clip in the drain line so it doesn't come back.
Freezer Cools but the Fridge Doesn't
Good news here: this is almost always worth fixing, and it does not mean the sealed system is shot. It's usually an evaporator fan motor or a temperature sensor. We take the fridge-section interior apart, pull the back panel, and swap the part.
Ice Buildup in the Freezer That Looks Like an Avalanche
That's a door gasket not seating right, letting humid room air sneak in, or the freezer defrost drain again.
Over-Freezing in the Fresh Food Section
Usually the evaporator fan or the sensor, sometimes a gasket, or a cold control on older units.
Refrigerator Not Cooling
Check the lights first. If the lights are off, it's often a control board or user interface, and that's a repair worth doing. If the lights are on and both the freezer and the fresh food side are warm, or the cooling has been fading for weeks, it's a sealed-system problem about 75% of the time. On a standard fridge that usually isn't worth fixing, and we'll tell you so on the phone.

A loud buzz or a knocking rattle usually points to the condenser fan, the evaporator fan motor, or the compressor. We'll tell you honestly which one it is and whether it's worth fixing.

The service call is the only price we quote up front, because it's the one thing that's dependable. The rest genuinely varies by the repair.
