What a Refrigerator Leak Repair Looks Like.
People like to know what they're paying for. This is one of our most common refrigerator repairs, from start to finish.
1. We find where the water starts
A refrigerator defrosts itself on a regular cycle, and the meltwater is supposed to run down a drain at the back. When you see water inside, that drain is the first suspect.
2. The back panel comes off
The drain sits behind a panel inside the compartment. We empty the shelves in the way, take the panel off and look for ice or debris blocking the opening.
3. We clear it and prove it's clear
Clearing the blockage is only half the job. We run a snake down the drain line to confirm nothing is left farther along, so the leak doesn't return in a month.
4. If ice caused it, we add a clip
When the blockage was ice, not debris, we sometimes fit a small heat probe clip in the drain. It carries a little warmth down the line and keeps it from freezing shut again.
