No heat at all
An electric dryer that tumbles cold usually needs a heating element. On a gas dryer it's the gas coils. Either one is a standard repair.
Getting too hot
Overheating is caused by lint packed inside the cabinet or by a grounded wire in the heating element. We clear the buildup, and we repair the wire or replace the element.
Won't start
When nothing happens at the push of the button, we test the door switch and the operating thermostat first. Those two account for most no-start calls.
Motor hums, drum doesn't turn
A drum that won't spin points to the motor or the start switch. A broken belt can look similar, and it's the easier fix of the three.
