It's simply out of level
A washer that walks across the floor is often just sitting unevenly. We lift it with air jack pumps, reset the feet and it stays put. No parts.
Suspension rods
In a top-loader, rods hold the tub centered. When they wear, the tub swings wide in the spin, trips the spin switch and the cycle stops short.
Dampers
Dampers do a similar job, soaking up the tub's movement. Worn ones let every unbalanced load turn into a bang.
The spin switch itself
If the tub is steady and the washer still quits in the spin, the switch that senses an off-balance load may be the faulty part.
